I had the privilege of collaborating with Emma McNamara on a project centered around our original typefaces.
Our joint endeavor led to the creation of Carpe Diem Tattoo Parlor, an imaginative concept that came to life through our creative vision. I oversaw the creation of illustrations, developed the website, crafted clothing mock-ups, and contributed to shaping the visual identity of Carpe Diem Tattoo Parlor. Junyper is Emma's original typeface. Hediem is mine, (previously known as Hudson EM).
A decade ago, following the dissolution of a New York City rock band composed of three women, a tattoo parlor emerged. Beyond their musical talents, these artists delved into tattoo design and eventually mastered the art of tattooing, laying the foundation for a thriving small business. Carpe Diem Tattoo Parlor stands as a tribute to women’s history and the diverse individuals who challenge conventions and stereotypes. Inspired by the legacies of rock and roll, post-war biker culture, early feminism, and the profound artistry of tattooing, our project embodies these influences.
